Aya Nakamura’s New Album Destinée Part 2

The second half of Aya Nakamura’s album, Destinée (Destiny), is also fantastic. The themes in the second half are love and heartbreak.

The music is incredible with its impressive Afro-Pop. The songs have impressive beats and amazing compositions.

The song Blues features verses with incredible rap. It has a dynamic beat but is also intense, reflecting sadness and anger. It also includes onomatopoeia that, at times, reminds me of Queen’s We Will Rock You.

There are other fantastic fast-paced tunes. The song Obsession has a catchy sound. The song parallels another Aya Nakamura single 42. The rhythm is dynamic with incredible tempos. Pamela (with Kany) features a bold beat with a Sisqo vibe, but with a contemporary Afro-Pop twist. There’s a bold energy that gives the tune a nice touch.

The second half of the album features remarkable semi-fast songs. Désarmer features remarkable tempo changes with bold energy. It ends with a lovely, joyful fade-out.  Débrancher has an impressive beat with a wavy rhythm (an up-and-down pace), reflecting the exhaustion of trying to make the relationship work. Tralala (with JayO) features an edgy, upbeat sound. The song has a lovely dance vibe. The beat reminds me of being at the beach (it’s winter where I am in the northern hemisphere when I wrote this article). Kata has a fantastic, fast-paced beat that reflects a mix of emotions (excitement and nerves). The beat is edgy. The composition is incredibly intricate. Baddies (with Joé Dwèt Filé) has a smooth, wavy rhythm. It’s upbeat and inspires a joyful feeling that true love exists. Kouma has a “choppy beat” that represents one heartbreak after another.  The music is phenomenal in its rhythm. The guitar in the background is incredible and complements the song’s story.

Each song has a composition that suitably sets the tone and complements the stories it tells.

Aya Nakamura’s voice is phenomenal.  She sings with a bold passion and energy. She conveys this incredible empowerment in her voice. There are three more duets on this album: Pamela (with Kany), Tralala (with JayO), and Baddies (with Joé Dwèt Filé). These duets are amazing with beautiful contrasts in vocal styles.

The lyrics are profound, each one telling an incredible story.  There’s a rich poetry to each song.

These songs about heartbreak are profound and describe that crucial moment when a woman decides to walk away for good. It’s impressive to hear such powerful tunes. The song Blues is a profound piece about heartbreak, in which the woman is fed up with her dead-end relationship. Obsession is a fantastic tune about courageously moving on, even though it wasn’t an easy decision. The subject is relatable in so many ways. Débrancher (Disconnect) emphasises the intensity of the heartbreak, and the woman finally decides to move on without a doubt, after being accused of unfaithfulness. It’s a well-written song.  Kouma is an empowering song about saying, ‘Enough is enough,’ and finally letting go of a dead-end relationship. It conveys an important message: self-love and self-confidence.

The love songs in the second half of the album are from the heart, with pure joy at the presence of true love. Pamela (with Kany) is a heartfelt tune about that common moment of being smitten. It describes the early days of falling in love with sweet joy. Désarmer (To Desarm) is another song about feeling smitten. It beautifully describes those intense emotions, especially in the early days of the relationship, just as Pamela does. Tralala (with JayO) is a soulful, sweet song. It expresses a profound, genuine love, with the man expressing his feelings with sincerity. Kata describes intense love and passion. There’s a poetic complexity that gives this song a unique perspective on having strong feelings for someone.  Baddies (with Joé Dwèt Filé) is a soulful song about hope and true love. It also describes the decency of a true gentleman. It’s a well-written song about an unexpected love.

The lyrics are heartfelt and rich in poetic depth, telling resonant stories.

The album Destinée is available.
