South African artist Una Rams released his first EP so in love. The themes are love and hope.
The music is Contemporary R&B. The EP has impressive contemporary beats combined with some Old-School sounds. The music is catchy, bold, and dynamic. The record also has a Boyz II Men vibe. It also reminds me of All 4 One’s single I Swear.
The song I Like You (#ilikeyou) is upbeat, vibrant and rhythmic. It reminds me of The Notorious B.I.G’s single Mo Money Mo Problems, especially the chorus part of the tune with the backup dancers. Composers/Songwriters Christer Kobedi (also recording engineer, Unarine Rambani Vaugh Fourie, and Toka Muduana (songwriter) did remarkable work with the composition and programming of this piece.
The three last tracks are a mix of slow and semi-fast. The tune nobody else has a fun disco-style beat. It has an impressive blend of fast and semi-fast rhythms. Junior Taurus, Tshepo S.G. Mosidi, and Unarine Rambani composed the song with incredible tempo changes and dynamic sound. The song bébé (feat. Tron Pyre) has a romantic vibe. It reminds me of Usher’s 2001 single U Remind Me. Unarine Rambani and Ndumiso Phiri composed this piece with remarkable intricacy. Next 2 Me (#next2me) is a beautiful ballad with a soothing rhythm. Unarine Rambani, Rebotile Modika, Daniel Olusegun Moses, and Thato Modika did incredible work as songwriters. It’s another song with a romantic feel.
The music on this EP is dynamic, boldly blending Contemporary R&B with Old-School beats (90s-style sounds).
Una Rams’ voice is edgy yet soft. He sings each song with heart and soul. His vocal style reminds me of a combination of Usher meets Drake.
The lyrics of the four songs are romantic, heartfelt, and soulful. I Like You (#ilikeyou) is a touching song describing the beauty of how simple love can be. Unarine Rambani captured that essence nicely. The flow is poetic in this track. The tune nobody else has a simplistic lyrical style to describe love and fidelity in a relationship. Tshepo S.G. Mosidi and Unarine Rambani did an excellent job of expressing how in love the man is with his partner. bébé is an intimate and sensual tune. The words are from the heart. Unarine Rambani wrote the song with thought and depth. The poetry of this piece is flowy and natural. The song Next 2 Me (#next2me ft. Langa Mavuso) is beautiful and vulnerable. It expresses genuine love. Unarine Rambani, Rebotile Modika, Daniel Olusegun Moses, and Thato Modika gave the song depth and lovely romance.
