On February 14, 2024, the movie Bob Marley – One Love is out in theatres.
The first soundtrack Bob Marley – One Love: One Love – Original Soundtrack, has 17 songs that consist of Bob Marley’s hits, including live performances. It honours the late Bob Marley nicely. Some of the best hits present on the soundtrack include Jamming, Three Little Birds and No Woman, No Cry. It boldly starts with Bob Marley’s famous single Get Up, Stand Up, a great introduction to his incredible music and the movie. There’s a heartfelt sense of nostalgia. Also, the songs are still phenomenal and catchy, which makes the music timeless. I remember hearing these tunes on the radio in the 90s/2000s. A piece that feels a propos these days is One Love. What a beautiful song. The sound quality throughout the soundtrack is fantastic. I enjoyed hearing the live performance of No Woman, No Cry. It feels like being at the event itself and as if being in the presence of Bob Marley. The atmosphere is incredible. The soundtrack ends with Rastaman Chant, which nicely wraps up Bob Marley’s story.
There’s also a seven-song soundtrack, Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By The Film, with artists who performed covers of Bob Marley’s hits. Kacey Musgraves gave a beautiful Country music rendition of Three Little Birds. It felt sweet and soulful. WizKid’s cover of One Love honours the original version nicely. Jessie Reyez added her musical touch to Is This Love – a contemporary sound. Impressive! Like the soundtrack with Bob Marley’s famous hits, it ends with the same song, Rastaman Chant– a version performed by Leon Bridges. The singers on the mini soundtrack all did an excellent job performing these phenomenal classics.
I enjoyed listening to this soundtrack, as it brought back memories of hearing some of these tunes during the radio segment when they played classic hits from the 70s and 80s. Bob Marley has timeless music that is transgenerational.
