French and Canadian artist Corneille released a new single, Avec Classe (with class). Corneille wrote and composed the song. It tells the story about showing interest in someone but with class and respect.
The music is R&B/Soul. The composition is dynamic. It parallels the musical style of Destiny’s Child’s 2000 hit Jumpin’ Jumpin’ with a more upbeat sound. The song has a catchy beat that reminds me of the dance club music from the 2000s. Trinix did an excellent job producing the melody of this impressive tune with a rhythmic sound. It starts slow, then smoothly transitions to a semi-fast rhythm, and then a fast beat. It alternates between these speeds. The tempo changes are fantastic, conveying various emotions regarding meeting someone new, especially in a respectful fashion. The song is incredible in how the music is well tailored to each verse, complementing the perspective of both people.
Corneille and Aya Nakamura’s voices are incredible. They sing harmoniously together – a musical dialogue. Each artist brings their bold vocal style to the song.
The lyrics are honest and genuine, from the heart. The song describes the classy way to flirt/pick up someone with consent and respect. The honesty about attraction, including a line in Corneille, says he notices the girl’s physical attributes but wants to be a gentleman in the situation in the lines “J’ai d’abord remarqué tes yeux avant tes fesses (nah!) – Ok, j’avoue c’est pas vrai, je le confesse,” a realistic portrayal of people’s behaviours in these situations. The dialogue between the two parties is a new take on picking up someone at a club or bar. The simplicity of the lyrics works well with the song’s story.
