Single Saturdays: Modeste – Queen

British artist Modeste released another new single entitled Queen. It is about honouring a woman he loves and wants to treat like a queen.

The music is Jazz – a neo-soul-infused anthem. The musicians playing the piano riff, the drums, and the velvety bassline are fantastic throughout the song. The piano playing, in the beginning, reminds me of Queen’s Seven Seas of Rhye but with a slower tempo. The semi-fast beats during the verses give the piece a special touch. The tempo boldly increases when the backup singers perform during the chorus, expressing genuine love and respect. The tune has a catchy 90s vibe similar to All 4 One (I Swear), Boyz II Men (I’ll Make Love to You & End of the Road), and Backstreet Boys (I’ll Never Break Your Heart). The blend of 90s-style music with neo-soul is impressive. The song has a dynamic composition. The beat is incredibly rhythmic with remarkable consistency. The music is beautifully deep.

Modeste’s voice is rich and soulful. He has a remarkable vocal style. He sings incredibly passionately, expressing his love for the woman he perceives as a queen. The backup singers are fantastic and add a layer to the song during the chorus part. Modeste has an impressive vocal range, with smooth transitions in hitting the various notes.

The lyrics are romantic and inspirational. The song celebrates a woman the man loves and wants to treat her with respect and honour, like a queen. She struggles to see the beauty (inner and outer) that the man who loves her sees. The words are poetically and beautifully well-written. The guy describes it as dancing with pure joy and his head floating in clouds when he thinks of the lady in question. Those are the effects of being deeply in love. He’s trying through his actions to show how much he loves and sees her as the queen she truly is. The lyrics have a beautiful depth, written with heart and soul.

The single Queen is available.
