Meghan Oak’s Impressive EP – Dans La Lune

Canadian artist Meghan Oak released a new EP, Dans La Lune (daydreaming/on the Moon). The themes are introspection (getting to know oneself), life and love.

The music is Pop. The EP has incredible, dynamic musical styles, combining different rhythms, fast, slow or a fantastic mix of both.
The EP has some songs with semi-fast beats, then transitions to slow. The song Dans La Lune (daydreaming) has a beautiful and wavy rhythm. The piece Avant que le ciel tombe (before the sky falls) has smooth transitions of them with impressive RAP verses (performed by DVynile).
There are also fast-paced songs. The tune Pas Easy (not easy) has an incredibly catchy beat. It parallels the musical style of Andréanne A. Malette. The composition and the contrast of rhythms are bold. The song Je retourne à la maison has a joyful and upbeat sound that makes one want to smile. The piece Peur D’être Aimée (fear of being loved) has a remarkable musical structure. It reminds me of the RAP sequence from TLC’s No Scrubs.
Péché Mortel  (deadly sin) is a touching ballad with a wavy rhythm, representing the “ups and downs” of love.
The compositions are rhythmic are intricate. The music has distinctive styles, combining Pop and RAP, old-school and contemporary sounds.

Meghan Oak’s voice is incredible and dynamic. She sings with great rhythm and style. She performs with heart and soul. There are two fantastic duets on the EP Avant que le ciel tombe (with DVynile) and Je retourne à la maison (with Laurence Castera).

The lyrics are profound, full of heart and soul. There’s a beautiful richness to the words of each song. The sense of adventure has quite a presence throughout the EP.
The song Dans La Lune (daydreaming) is simplistic and poetic, performed in French and English. Avant que le ciel tombe (before the sky falls) is a heartfelt metaphor for embracing life. Peur D’être Aimée (afraid of being loved) is a touching, vulnerable song about one’s fears and anxieties. The tune Pas Easy (not easy) is about relationships and the struggles one may face- not to give up easily.
Je retourne à la maison (returning home), a duet with Laurence Castera, is a sweet and heartwarming song about returning home, returning to one’s origins or basics. It’s a profound metaphor.
The EP has one romantic song Péché Mortel (deadly sin). It’s a touching and passionate song, rich in language and poetry. It describes in detail the mixed emotions felt when one is in love.
The words are rich and soulful. Each song tells a story, personal and profound.

The EP Dans La Lune is available.
