These pieces represent the joys and cheer of the Christmas season. These upbeat songs are dynamic in their musical styles, combining a Christmas vibe and a sense of hope. Some sounds parallel the 70s, 80s or 90s. For example,  Merry, Merry parallels Donna Summers’ Bad Girls with a 70s beatThe songs Greatest of These Days and Christmas Around the World have a 90s dance club feel. Hide All The Toys has boldness in its rhythm. Avalanche has fantastic piano beats and lively beats to represent strength and courage. The piece The Santa Clause has lovely tones that complement the Christmas spirit nicely.
Other songs have a tempo that’s a mix of fast and slow to demonstrate the different stages of the story. That’s the case with This is My Year, New Boss For Christmas, and The Giver.
The music on the album has a fantastic range of rhythms and styles, from a 70s vibe to contemporary beats.

Elizabeth Chan’s voice is soulful and rhythmic. She has an impressive take on the Christmas season. She sings her original Christmas songs with heart and soul. The song The Santa Clause is a lovely mother/son interaction that is sweet and heartwarming.

The lyrics are hopeful and diverse in different subjects, from popular Christmas subjects (i.e. Christmas celebrations, Santa) to lesser common topics (i.e. new outlook on life).

Many songs cover Christmas celebrations through different topics, from toys for children to the importance of giving during the holiday season. The song Merry, Merry is about celebrating Christmas with loved ones, a beautiful piece. The Santa Clause is a sweet, childlike discussion between a mother and her son about being good and respecting the parents. The tune The Giver has a positive message about the importance of generosity and giving, even when times are tough. The songs Christmas Around the World and Greatest of These Days are full of hope and joy. Christmas Around the World honours the different ways of celebrating Christmas. The tune Greatest of These Days is uplifting, with a sense that everything will be okay.

There are three empowering pieces: Avalanche, New Boss For Christmas, and This is My Year. Avalanche is an empowering song about taking charge of one’s life, even if it’s challenging, especially during the holiday season. New Boss For Christmas is a touching piece about a fresh start right before the holiday season. This is My Year has an inspirational message that things will get better.

It is impressive how the record 12 Months Of Christmas covers classic subjects (Santa Claus, giving spirit, etc.) and others different, such as a new chapter in life happening during the holiday season.
