Cuban-American artist Gloria Estefan and her family have released a Christmas album entitled Estefan Family Christmas. It has 12 covers and two original songs (with two Spanish versions of them).
The music is Holiday and Pop, with some Rock & Roll and Latin music. The album has a nostalgic vibe with renditions of Christmas classics, including some with musical twists. The compositions have an incredible harmonious balance of classical sounds honouring the original works but also have contemporary beats. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus is an example of a holiday classic with a modern touch, with a fantastic composition. Another great example is The Chipmunk Song from the 1950s. Then, there are Christmas classics from the 70s and 80s. The rendition of Happy Xmas is a lovely ballad rendition with a similar musical style as the original, combined with a classical tone. The song Last Christmas has an old-school 50s/60s vibe with a Rock & Roll touch -it’s an impressive take on an 80s classic. The music of the renditions of Christmas classics is phenomenal, with a wonderful mix of musical styles.
The two original pieces: Thankful and When I Miss You Most, have a wonderful Christmas vibe, a mix of Pop, Latin sounds and old-fashioned music. Gloria Estefan and Shelly Berg did an excellent job producing these two original songs (the same for the Spanish versions) and renditions of the timeless Christmas classics.
Gloria Estefan, her husband Emilio, their children Emily and Nayyip, and their grandchild Sasha Estefan-Coppola have incredible voices. Their family bond shines through in their songs. They sing together with love and joy. The piece Thankful is a heartfelt performance by Gloria Estefan, Emily Estefan and Sasha Estefan-Coppola, featuring The Talent Zone Acting Studio Kids. Emily Estefan sings a beautiful, touching, and original piece, When I Miss You Most, expressing the sentiment of remembering loved ones, missing them most during the holiday season. They also did a fantastic job with Spanish versions of those songs: Doy Gracias Por Ti (Thankful) and Cuando Te Extraño Más (When I Miss You Most). The Estefan family singing together is heartwarming and soulful.
