Musical Discovery: Stéphane Sénéchal- A French Opera Singer

Since March, I have been watching live performances from Stéphane Sénéchal, a French Opera singer. He was performing from his balcony for 56 days. I caught as many of his performances on Instagram.

Stéphane Sénéchal has an incredible voice. He sang a range of songs, including France’s national anthem La Marseillaise and, more recently, We Are The Champions by Queen. My favourite moment was on May 8, when he performed a range of Arabic songs in his live special called L’Orient. I also enjoyed his performance of various Dalida songs (either in French or in Arabic) and his cover of Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York.

He cheered up the people of France and many from around the world. He spoke from the heart after each time he sang from his window, each night at 7 pm (Paris time). He brought people together while still respecting social distancing during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Each night he performed, Stéphane Sénéchal was methodical in his planning of each live performance.

Thank you, Stéphane Sénéchal, for your operatic shows from the balcony each night at 7 pm, for the 56 days.

Wish you success in your future endeavours,

 Flora Youssef
