First Album Fridays: Emily Reid – Wine EP

American singer Emily Reid has released her first EP entitled Wine. It’s a record that covers love, life, and empowerment and freedom for women.

The musical genre is Country. The sound is catchy and rhythmic with a mix of contemporary and 90s feel. The music of each song reflects a specific mood. The tunes Wine, Friday, and Good Time Being a Woman have a fast beat that is cheerful. Whereas the song The Right One has a slower tempo in music. The guitar has an impressive presence in the EP. The composition of the EP is fantastic.

Emily Reid’s voice is incredible. She has a modern twist to singing Country that’s soulful and smooth. Her vocal style reminds me of Gwen Stefani and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott. She captures the feeling of empowerment, especially in her song  Good Time Being a Woman.

The lyrics have raw emotion and don’t have any embellishment to them. The song Wine is an example of this. Emily Reid expresses how she enjoys wine and being single, without any pretending. The tune Friday focuses on how the girl has moved on from her ex quickly because she realizes she deserves better.  The Right One is a song about not rushing a relationship that has potential, which can feel complicated. Good Time Being a Woman is a tune that talks about how women should feel confident and empowered as well as enjoying freedom and life. This song inspires girls and women to be themselves and celebrate who they are. Well done! Good Time Being a Woman is my favourite song from this EP.

The EP Wine is now available.
