July 12, 2026, marks the 40th anniversary of Queen’s concert at Wembley. That’s the concert where Freddie Mercury wore that famous Yellow Jacket. His other outfits were also incredible. According to sources, it was Queen’s last concert.
I watched the concert online and heard the album. It’s impressive to hear and to watch. I imagine it was a legendary show, since the event took place before I was born. I decided to listen to the album first, and it was well done. The sound quality is incredible.
After that, I watched the concert online last week and loved it. Freddie Mercury knew how to put on a show and work the crowd, making the concert interactive. I especially enjoyed hearing the audience sing Queen’s best hits. It felt like I was there. He put a new spin on each song while maintaining the original rhythm, creating familiarity and a fresh twist. Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), and John Deacon (bass) were phenomenal at this concert. It was truly a collaborative effort on stage. The crew who prepared this event did an excellent job.
Impromptu is unique because it simply features Queen playing their instruments for almost three minutes. It’s also lovely to hear instrumental solos in almost every song, a nice touch compared to the original versions. Throughout the show, Freddie Mercury was unfiltered and full of humour.
As a fan of Queen, I found it a joy to hear and watch this concert. I saw Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon perform beautifully. They all poured their hearts and souls into this show. It’s bittersweet because, according to sources, this was Queen’s last concert. Overall, this concert was a memorable celebration of Queen’s talent and energy.
My favourite songs from this concert are: One Vision (opening the show), Another Bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody (similar to the Live Aid performance, starting with the piano part), and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It ends on a sentimental note with We Are The Champions and God Save The Queen. One detail was Freddie Mercury’s rendition of the song “Big Spender”. He put his spin on this 60s classic (from the musical Sweet Charity).
Thank you, Queen, for this epic concert, and to those who made it into an album to preserve the memories of this fantastic show. Overall, this release helps keep the Queen and the concert’s legacy alive.
Happy 40th anniversary to Queen at Wembley! This concert remains a memorable celebration of Queen’s talent and energy.
