Eunike Tanzil’s Latest EP Dreamscapes

Indonesian composer Eunike Tanzil released a new EP, Dreamscapes. The EP is about dreams and fairytale-style music similar to scores for various fairytale movies.

The music is Classical Crossover. It’s impressive to hear the blend of Classical music with contemporary symphony music. It honours past, present and future in terms of the composition for each song. Eunike Tanzil did remarkable work composing these six lovely pieces.

The piece Dreamscapes is whimsical and parallels the music scores heard in various Disney movies. The rhythm is wavy, representing adventure and excitement. The violin playing in the background is a lovely touch.
Soaring! is another piece full of excitement but also suspense. It reminds me of when fairy-tale characters prepare for a major event (such as a royal wedding or another royal event at the castle) or the introduction of a new character. It parallels some of the songs heard in the Wicked movies (both parts).
The song Flying Kites has a romantic vibe. It reminds me of when a princess is about to marry the prince, a classic ending to most fairy tales. The violin is smooth throughout this piece. It ends on a bold note.
Pearl’s Lullaby is a relaxing song with beautiful rhythm. It’s a perfect song that helps one drift off to sleep. The piano in the background is soothing, complementing that lullaby feeling. The music feels magical, as if sleeping on a cloud. It ends with the piano smoothly fading out, which is well-suited to the moment one falls asleep.
Pearl’s Fantasia reminds me of the music played after a movie’s happy ending, especially a fairy tale. It also reminds me of a scene in The Little Mermaid when Ariel goes on top of the rock and flips her hair back as the ocean waves peak. The tune is joyful and inspires hope. The song inspires one to want to dance with a significant other. The symphony is phenomenal.  It ends with a beautiful harp fade-out.
The Ringtone Waltz features music similar to that of a well-known cellphone company’s ringtone.  It feels nostalgic – a modern touch to a classical dance, smoothly blending the old and the new. The piano in the background is lovely. The composition has a unique spin on classical Waltz music. It ends the EP on a dynamic but soft note.

The music throughout the EP Dreamscapes is beautifully whimsical, full of intrigue and suspense. Sometimes, there’s a sense of calm, as is the case with the piece Pearl’s Lullaby. Eunike Tanzil is an incredible, talented composer.

The EP Dreamscapes is available.
