This year marked the sixth edition of my 12 Days of Christmas articles. I also saw some Christmas specials, including the annual CMA Country Christmas, Little Big Town’s Christmas at the Opry, and a repeat of Michael Bublé’s Christmas in the City. The 2024 holiday season genuinely felt festive—people wished each other happy holidays and smiled at each other. It felt heartwarming.
In terms of Christmas songs, 2024 marked the anniversary of several hits: the 40th anniversary of Queen’s Thank God It’s Christmas and Wham’s single Last Christmas, as well as the 30th anniversary of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You. These songs are timeless, and it’s understandable when artists sing their renditions of these modern classics.
In this edition of 12 Days of Christmas, I noticed several renditions of Joni Mitchell’s Christmas single River. I wasn’t familiar with this poetic, heartfelt song until this year.
Other popular songs artists covered include Last Christmas, Silent Night, This Christmas and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You. It was impressive to hear how creative these singers got. My favourite discovery was Qin Fan, who did piano renditions of popular Christmas songs, including Last Christmas and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is.
I say this every year, but I couldn’t cover all the Christmas albums, EPs and singles that came out this year. However, I will give them honourary mentions.

It was fun to listen to this year’s selection of Christmas music, including popular songs like All I Want For Christmas Is You, Thank God It’s Christmas and Last Christmas. I hope this Christmas was a good one. I wish you all love and light this holiday season.
