American singer Samm Henshaw released a new EP, For Someone Somewhere Who Isn’t Us. The themes are soul-searching, contemplation and love.
The music is R&B / Soul. The EP has a John Legend vibe. The compositions are intricate.
The record has impressive semi-fast songs that reflect various emotions. The tune Troubled Ones starts with a slow and smooth rhythm and gradually changes tempo. The composition is phenomenal. It ends with lovely meditation-style music. Under God has an incredible guitar playing in the background. The song has a fun, upbeat sound. Water has a cheerful beat and good energy. The base and synthesizer in the background are a bold touch. It parallels John Legend’s music, including his single Focused. The piece Fade (Feat Kirby) has a fun, psychedelic-style rhythm that parallels the music from the early 70s. The composition is impressive. It also reminds me of Bob Marley’s music. It also reminds me of Janet Jackson’s I Get Lonely.
The EP has great ballads with great compositions. The song Bees N Things has an incredible RAP-style beat with a wavy rhythm that reminds me of the late 90s/early 2000s. There’s a TLC / Destiny’s Child vibe. It also reminds me of John Legend’s All of Me. The song “The Café” has a smooth rhythm and parallels K’Naan’s early musical works. The guitar playing slowly reminds me of a musician playing in a café, creating an intimate vibe.
The EP has phenomenal music with incredible intricacy and diverse musical styles.
Samm Henshaw’s voice is soulful and dynamic, reminding me of John Legend. He has an incredible duet in the tune Fade (Feat Kirby). Their voices complement each other nicely. Samm Henshaw’s singing reminds me of Bob Marley’s vocal style.
The lyrics are inspirational and profound. Samm Henshaw and the songwriters did remarkable work writing songs with heart and soul.
Some songs are about soul-searching and reflection within. The song Troubled Ones is a remarkable, poetic piece about contemplation, uncertainty, and inner struggles. It’s deep and powerful. Under God is a fantastic song about courageously moving on from a failed relationship. It has the message that everything happens for a reason and that the challenging time was a blessing in disguise. The piece Water is a beautiful metaphor for cleansing away negative energy and inviting positivity.
Other songs talk about relationships and, at times, heartbreak. Bees N Things is about embracing the journey and letting things flow naturally. It’s also about being with someone that one cares about as a way to support them. The tune Fade (Feat Kirby) tells a heartbreaking story about a relationship falling apart and the couple struggling to make it work. The emotions are raw and vulnerable. The Café is about hope and feeling nostalgic. It’s a heartfelt song about hopes that things will return to how they were.
These songs are incredible and rich in emotional depth and meaning.
