American artists Rita Wilson and Leslie Odom Jr released a cover of a Bee Gees hit entitled Massachusetts.
The music is Pop. The tune has a slower rhythm than the original version but with a lovely new take on a 70s classic. The song has contemporary sounds with some folk-style melodies. The piano, the violin and the guitar give the ballad a cozy romantic feel. It starts with an orchestra band that performs the beat like the Bee Gees’ version, then smoothly transitions to the guitar and piano. Then, it shifts to the musical styles of Pop and Country music. The rhythm picks up nicely to a balanced mix of fast and slow. The song ends with a smooth fade-out. The composition is rich and deep.
Rita Wilsa and Leslie Odom Jr. make an incredible duet. They sing with heart and soul. They have a lovely blend of vocal styles. Rita Wilson has a husky voice with an impressive mezzo-soprano, full of richness and depth. Leslie Odom Jr’s incredible tenor voice reminds me of Lionel Richie’s but with a Country twist. Their voices complement each other beautifully.
The single Massachusetts is available on the album Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets.
