Canadian artist Nicola Ciccone has released a Christmas album entitled L’esprit Noël (the spirit of Christmas). It has eight covers and four original pieces (written and composed by Nicola Ciccone).
The music is French Pop and Folk. The album has a lovely mix of traditional/classic Christmas music and contemporary sounds on both the covers and the original pieces. The band is fantastic, with the musicians (Dany Ranallo, Mark Di Claudio, and Domenico Romanelli) playing their instruments in perfect harmony. Two of the four original songs: Je voudrais que ce soit Noël toute l’année and L’esprit Noël have a lovely combination of French Pop and Folk. Tout ce que je veux pour Noël c’est de l’amour is a beautiful ballad with incredible piano music in the background. Joyeux Noël has a soft and slow rhythm.
The album has covers of Christmas classics with a touch of personal musical styles. For example, the music of White Christmas has a beautiful ballad sound with a trombone twist. The song Blue Christmas has a bold Rock sound mixed in with some Jazz beats. The combination is impressive. There are Christmas songs in Italian that follow traditional Italian music, a lovely homage to Nicola Ciccone’s Italian Heritage. Il Est Né Le Divin Enfant follows traditional Christmas music with some moments of modern sounds.
Nicola Ciccone’s voice is fantastic and soulful. When he sings Je voudrais que ce soit Noël toute l’année and L’esprit Noël, he sounds cheerful. Throughout the album, he performs with heart and passion. It is impressive to hear Nicola Ciccone sing in three languages: French, English, and Italian.
The album has a four original songs: Je voudrais que ce soit Noël toute l’année, L’esprit Noël, Tout ce que je veux pour Noël and Joyeux Noël. These Christmas songs are incredibly well-written and full of heart and soul. There’s a beautiful personal touch to each piece. Je voudrais que ce soit Noël toute l’année (I want it to be Christmas all year round) is a soulful song full of hope and cheer. L’esprit Noël (Christmas Spirit) is festive and joyful. It has a positive and inspirational message. Tout ce que je veux pour Noël c’est de l’amour (all I want for Christmas is love) is a heartwarming piece, an homage to family life with heartfelt nostalgia. Joyeux Noël (Merry Christmas) has a beautiful message about spreading kindness and solidarity. The lyrics of these four tunes are rich in poetry and emotion of the holiday season.
