November 24, 2022, marks the 25th anniversary of Celine Dion’s famous single My Heart Will Go On, the theme song for the movie The Titanic. It’s a heartfelt love story.
The music is Pop. James Horner composed the songs with impressive intricacy and precision. By incorporating each instrument correctly, he did a fantastic job with the composition’s structure. It starts with a slow beat up, and then at a couple of moments, it goes up in tempo with a smooth transition of rhythms. At the start of the song and other key moments, the flute in the background adds an incredible touch. Before Celine Dion sings the chorus for the last time, intense musical moments represent passion and pure love. The song ends with a lovely fade-out.
The musicians of the song My Heart Will Go On were phenomenal. Walter Afanasieff played the Hammond B-3 organ and the synth bass. He also played the keyboard and drum programmer with Dan Shea. Tony Hinnigan plays the Pennywhistle. Paul Peabody did great work playing the Irish fiddle. Dann Huff is incredible at playing the guitar. William Ross, the one in charge of the orchestration, was fantastic in leading the musicians. Dan Shea also did excellent work on the sound design. The music in this single is timeless—a recognizable masterpiece 25 years later.
Celine Dion’s voice is soft and sweet. Yet, she also sounds bold and passionate. She perfectly balances romance and passion in her singing. She captures the essence of the song. The backup vocalists, Skyler Jett, Leslie Ellis, Jeanie Tracy, Konesha Owens and Claytoven Richardson, were incredible and added even more emotion to the remarkable piece.
The lyrics are romantic and poetic, telling a touching love story. James Horner and Will Jennings wrote the song with heart and soul. They capture the romantic sentiments and the pure love of two people. The words are profound, demonstrating that true love never dies- it lives on forever. The tune was the perfect choice for The Titanic – it represents the beautiful love story of Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet). The words are remarkably well-written, with profound poetry, rich with meaning and emotion.
Happy 25th anniversary to Celine Dion’s hit My Heart Will Go On.
