Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga Collaboration: Love for Sale

American artists Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga have released a cover album entitled Love for Sale. The duo performs songs written by Cole Porter.

The music is Jazz. There’s a lovely combination of old-school Jazz with a modern touch that makes it feel like the songs came out today. Since these tunes are classics, a blast from the past, the album has a nice nostalgic feel. The crooner component has a bold presence. The band is fantastic throughout the record – it’s like hearing a live concert. It’s a joy to listen to the various instruments, including the piano and the saxophone. This album’s music works well for a fancy dinner party (not during a pandemic, of course).* The compositions are remarkable – rich in diverse musical styles – both classic and contemporary.

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga have beautiful duets together- their voices compliment each other magnificently. Their solos are also impressive. Lady Gaga has two songs where she sings solo: Do I Love You and Let’s Do It. She did an excellent job. Tony Bennett’s solo song is Just One of Those Things that is remarkable. Tony Bennett’s fantastic husky voice works well with Lady Gaga’s higher vocal range. Her singing style on this album reminds me of Barbara Streisand, especially in the 70s. The two singers honour classic with profound respect.

The album Love for Sale is available.
