In 2019, country star Kacey Musgraves held a Christmas special entitled The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show. It’s a celebration of Christmas and tells the story of finding an ornament by Grandma.
The music is Country. The songs took place in live performances. The quality of music is remarkable. It feels as if I were attending this show in person. The Country aspect of it adds a sweet cozy feel to it, along with a nostalgic touch.
Kacey Musgraves’ voice is beautiful and rhythmic. She did incredible duets with James Corden (Let It Snow), Leon Bridges (Present Without a Bow), Camila Cabello (Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree), and Fred Armisen ( (Not So) Silent Night). She also did lovely performances with Zooey Deschanel (Mele Kalikimaka), Troye Sivan, Troye Sivan (Glittery) and Lana Del Rey (I’ll Be Home For Christmas).
The lyrics are festive and from the heart. There were five original songs performed and written by Kacey Musgraves, including the duets. Some tunes express a relatable sadness Present without a Bow (featuring Leon Bridges), and Christmas Makes Me Cry. However, there are also upbeat songs, as is the case for Glittery featuring Troye Sivan, Nana, and Ribbons & Bows.
My favourite songs are the following Let It Snow (featuring James Corden), Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (featuring Camila Cabello), and Glittery (featuring Troye Sivan).
