American singer and actress Lea Michele has a new Christmas album out entitled Christmas in the City. The record has the Classics and an original song entitled Christmas In New York.
The music is Pop- Holiday style. The sound is contemporary, while still honouring the Christmas classics. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree is an example of the classic and the new. The sounds of this holiday, such as the sleigh bells and the piano. Lea Michele’s version of White Christmas, another legendary song, has a little homage to Bing Crosby’s release, but with an upbeat sound of jazz.
Lea Michele’s voice is incredible. She sounds authentic and genuine. She gives the album a personal touch, especially with the original song Christmas In New York. She sings with a great variety of registers in which she follows the rhythm. There are three great duets in this album: Jonathan Groff (I’ll Be Home For Christmas), Darren Criss (White Christmas), Cynthia Erivo (Angels We Have Heard on High), all of whom sang wonderfully. Also, Lea Michele performed a fantastic rendition of Do You Want To Build A Snowman from the movie Frozen.
The lyrics of Christmas In New York are personal and from the heart. She tells a detailed story about Christmas celebrations in New York while remembering her childhood. I especially enjoyed this song since I recently went to New York last November with family about a week before Thanksgiving. When Lea Michele describes the lights in New York and Broadway, I can easily visualize it. Christmas In New York is a song to which people can connect.
The album Christmas in the City is available.
