Mariah Carey has released a new edition of her 1994 Christmas Album entitled Merry Christmas 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. It came out on November 1, 2019, the date of the original record- 25 years to the day.

The music on the album is a mix of the original sounds and new. The record features the original material along with live musical performances and remixes- a blend of old and new. The live concerts heard in the album took place in various Cathedrals have a Gospel feel to them. The new tunes, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, Oh Santa!, Christmas Time Is In The Air Again, When Christmas Comes (featuring John Legend), The Star, and Lil Snowman, have incredible contemporary music. I love the nostalgic vibe of the album that is mainly present in the first half of the 2-part record.

Mariah Carey’s voice has a lovely depth to it. She captures the Christmas in both the original and the new songs of this album.

The lyrics are well-written and portray the Christmas spirit. The words of the songs are timeless – I imagine people listening to the album for years to come. The poetry is sweet and festive – it brings joy and holiday cheer to the listeners, including myself.

The Merry Christmas 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is now available.
