Egyptian singer Moustafa Amar released a new album, Amar, Amareen (One or Two Moons). The themes are love and heartbreak. In honour of Moustafa Amar’s 60th birthday, I chose to review his latest album.
The music is Arabic Pop. Each song has a rich, intricate composition. The music blends musical styles in a balanced way.
Some songs are upbeat with incredible, joyful energy.
Amout Ana has a dynamic Pop sound combined with some tarab-style elements. It has a gradual rhythm that complements the song’s chase narrative of love. It starts slow, then smoothly goes into an upbeat tempo. Incredible composition!
Amar, Amareen smoothly blends traditional Middle Eastern instruments with contemporary beats. The composition features a perfect balance of the two sounds. It starts with music similar to Spanish Flamenco. The rhythm reminds me of Moustafa Amar’s early works with its dynamic dance beat.
Ana is a fun song with bold contemporary pop sounds. I can imagine hearing this fun tune at a dance club, party or wedding. It features a Disco vibe that gives it something extra.
Elly Kabbarnah has a fun energy in the song’s composition. The music is vibrant, with sounds that remind me of classic Middle Eastern Pop music. It makes you want to get up and dance.
Habeet has fun, cheerful music. The tempo changes are bold and dynamic. The composition is well thought out and conveys love, hope, and joy.
Keddab has a bold guitar sound. The song parallels the girl band Four Cats’ version of Ya Naseeny (You Forget Me). The song has perfect rhythm, with good timing and great tempo changes.
The album also features great ballads with beautiful rhythms.
El Boad is a rich ballad with an intricate composition, with great rhythm changes that perfectly reflect heartbreak and that period of wondering what to do next.
Daggah is a sweet ballad with fantastic semi-fast tempos. It’s a balanced blend of two tempos: slow and fast. The wavy rhythm is a nice touch.
Bellah Aleik has a lovely guitar sound and an intense, semi-fast beat that represents the confusion the man feels about his heartbreak.
Hatgheeb starts with soft music that gradually builds into a lovely, semi-fast guitar sound. It parallels another Moustafa Amar song, Begad, with a more vibrant sound.
Asl Al-Ayam has a wavy, intense rhythm that conveys the heartbreak and sadness you feel after a breakup. The music is phenomenal, especially in its tempo changes.
Mesh Hashoufik starts with intense music that builds suspense, reflecting that moment in life when you finally end a relationship that can no longer be saved.
The music is remarkable throughout the album, with smooth blends of musical genres.
Moustafa Amar’s voice is incredible as always. He has a bold vocal range. Moustafa Amar sings each song with heart and soul.
Each song’s lyrics are poetically expressive, describing deep emotions that range from joy to sadness.
The album features beautiful love songs that bring joy when you listen and inspire hope of finding love.
Amout Ana (I die) is a unique love song about a man in love with someone who teases him about their affections.
Amar, Amareen (One moon or two) has romantic, hopeful lyrics. The song describes eyes as two moons; it’s a heartfelt metaphor.
Daggah (bold impact) is about a love that boldly changes someone’s life with one look. It’s a sweet love song. The rhyming is fantastic. The song has a natural poetic flow.
