Single Saturdays: Paula Letang – Giving You More

Canadian singer Paula Letang released a new single, Giving You More. The song is about the mixed feelings many have when falling in love, including excitement and joy.

The music is R&B/Soul. The song is upbeat and relaxing. The composition is incredible, with a remarkable musical structure that builds to the chorus, creating anticipation; the same applies at the beginning of the tune. Also, at the beginning, the music in this piece reminds me of classic 90s R&B, creating a nostalgic feeling. The single also features a lovely 70s vibe that reminds me of Aretha Franklin’s early work. The guitar is a nice touch to this romantic song, and its wavy rhythm is fantastic. The transition from semi-fast to slow and back to semi-fast is smooth- great tempo changes.  Paula Letang and Kwanele Sifunda did an excellent job with the song’s composition, with its beautiful musical nuances.

Paula Letang’s voice is soft and soulful. She sings with great passion and impressive rhythm. She also hits those high notes so beautifully. Her vocal style reminds me of the late Aretha Franklin and a bit of Lauryn Hill.

The lyrics are romantic and inspirational. They perfectly capture the mixed emotions one feels when falling in love. It’s heartfelt and relatable. The song also covers the joy of finding true love, especially when it’s often sudden/unexpected. There’s a beautiful sense of hope when it comes to matters of the heart. The poetry in this song is profound, with simple metaphors, like the key, representing the right fit when it comes to love.  The second metaphor is lighting the flame, which represents the beautiful passion of love. The third metaphor is being in the game, which conveys teamwork between two people in love. The words flow smoothly, which is how true love feels.  Paula Letang and Kwanele Sifunda did a great job writing a magnificent piece.
