Day 12: Rosie Darling – Catching a Snowflake EP

American singer Rosie Darling released a Christmas EP titled Catching a Snowflake. There’s one original song along with three renditions of popular Christmas songs.

The music is Pop. The piano throughout the EP is incredible. The musicians are fantastic, creating a ballad version of popular Christmas hits. It feels nice and intimate.
Catching a Snowflake is a beautiful ballad with a smooth rhythm. It parallels Christina Perri’s single A Thousand Years, with a slightly slower tempo. Andrew Tufano did a remarkable job as the producer of this song.

There are three fantastic renditions of Christmas classics. The first one is a version of Blue Christmas, a pop ballad. It’s a lovely spin on Elvis Presley’s popular Christmas single. It starts slowly, with beautiful piano in the background, then picks up slightly in tempo as the violin smoothly enters.
All I Want For Christmas Is You (Feat. Sara Kays) on this EP is a lovely ballad version. Some of the music sounds like a classic music box, such as the one with a ballerina figurine inside.  The piano gives a cosy feel.
Kissin’ In The Cold has a similar musical structure to the original version.  The music is fantastic, with a nostalgic feel.  However, there’s a nice, subtle contemporary style that gives it a little something, including the presence of incredible guitar playing.

The music on this EP is great, adding a contemporary sound to the classics and impressive original material for the song Catching a Snowflake.

Rosie Darling’s voice is soft and rhythmic. She performs each song with this incredible richness in her vocal style. Her singing style is rare and beautiful – it’s done with heart and soul. There’s also a nice duet with Sara Kays performing Mariah Carey’s ‘90s single All I Want for Christmas Is You. Their voices complement each other nicely.

There’s one original song in the EP entitled Catching a Snowflake. The lyrics are well-written.
Catching a Snowflake is a romantic song that beautifully represents what true love is all about. Rosie Darling, Andrew Tufano, and Kristin Carpenter wrote the tune with beautiful poetry. The little Christmas details, like mistletoe, add a festive touch.  It inspires hope in love, celebrating the beautiful rarity of a true and profound love.

The EP Catching a Snowflake is available.
