Canadian musician Virginie Reid released her first album, Insomnie Des Beaux Jours (Insomnia of Beautiful Days). The record has a meditation vibe.
The musical genre is Instrumental. The album has a calming effect when listened to. There are these vibrations and a bold, high frequency.
The piece Douceur (softness) is a relaxing way to start the EP. It begins with bold, random piano notes in between semi-silence. It then transitions to the overall, consistent rhythm, with occasional tempo changes. The sound reminds me of the “ohm” sound one makes when meditating. The music is suitable for meditation.
The song Corail (Coral) has immersive music that feels soothing, maybe “hypnotic”, at times. It also favours this sense of contemplation. The piano complements its smooth rhythm, along with a guitar-style beat. The composition is beautifully structured with calm and finesse.
Vertige (Vertigo) has a unique composition, with techno-style sounds and incredible organ music, that reminds me of choir performances. Then, it shifts to modern/contemporary beats. The blend is impressive. It feels peaceful, with credit to smooth tempo changes. There is also an intense, high-frequency style sound that feels distinctive compared to other instrumental albums I’ve heard. Some of you may feel a vibration in your chest if you’re sensitive to sounds.
Aube (Dawn) is another relaxing piece. It’s a lovely way to end the album. It starts slow, builds in tempo to create suspense, then slows back down to a calm rhythm. It also has an organ-style beat, giving the song a feeling of elevation from high-frequency sounds. The music in this tune is remarkable for its unique composition.
