First EP Fridays: Fran – Broken

American artist Fran released her first EP this year, Broken. The EP’s themes are soul-searching and life experiences.

The music is Pop. The EP’s overall vibe is cosy. It has lovely ballads with impressive compositions.
The song Broken has a remarkable, slow rhythm. The instrumental combination of guitar, violin, drums, and piano is well-thought-out. The drums playing softly in the background add a lovely touch. The composition is rich. The gradient tempo changes are incredible, representing various emotions.
Coincidence has an impressive acoustic vibe. The acoustic guitar feels nice and cosy. It has a lovely 90s R&B vibe. The beat is catchy with a wavy rhythm. It parallels Macy Gray’s music, especially her early works.
Holster has a phenomenal composition, blending slow beats with semi-fast ones. It parallels Christina Perri’s single Arms. The guitar playing in the background is soothing and soft, sounding like a heartbeat.
The song Oh No has this fantastic blend of guitar and tambourine. The semi-fast beats are nicely representative of the determination to overcome challenging times. It parallels Green Day’s 90s single Good Riddance with a slower and smoother tempo.
The music is fresh. If you’re interested in a nice change of pace from the fast-beat songs of the Summer season, I recommend this EP.

Fran’s voice is husky, yet soulful. She pours her heart and soul into each song. Her vocal style is bold. Fran sounds profoundly expressive.

The lyrics are poetic and heartfelt. The poetry of each song is profound, creating layers of meaning through precise linguistic style and paragraphing.
The tune Broken represents the determination to overcome grief and uncertainty. It’s a profound metaphor that describes the mixed emotions one feels throughout life. The song also represents resilience that no matter what life throws, everything will be okay.
Coincidence has a lovely, lyrical simplicity. It’s an inspirational piece with a positive reminder that everything happens for a reason. The verses are detailed, boldly combined with a simple chorus.
Holster is an excellent metaphor with a philosophical style of writing that’s heartfelt and soulful. It’s a profound song about soul-searching and learning to live life without the feeling of survival mode. There’s this incredible depth expressing mixed emotions of living life.
The song Oh No is a suitable and relatable example of how life is not always easygoing. It represents anxiety/pain with grace and depth about falling in love again. The vulnerability is genuine and palpable. It’s a well-written song that many can relate to.
The lyrics of each song tell a profound story of shared human experiences with grace and finesse.
