Day 2: Single Saturdays – Michael Bublé, Carly Pearce – Maybe This Christmas

Canadian singer Michael Bublé and American artist Carly Pearce released a new Christmas single,  Maybe This Christmas. The song is about the challenging emotions the holiday season can bring to some.

The music is Crooner/Holiday. The ballad has a phenomenal composition, reflecting the song’s sadness and hope that this Christmas will be better than others. The musicians Greg Wells (drums, bass, piano), Nicholas Jacobson-Larson (synthesizer programming), Nick Vayenas (bass), and Jon Aanestad (strings) did remarkable work creating the mood of the song’s story. It parallels the early Crooner works that Michael Bublé did when he covered classics, including those by Frank Sinatra. The music is rich and soulful.

Michael Bublé and Carly Pearce’s voices are incredible. They performed a beautiful duet and sang harmoniously together. They also sang their solo parts with heart and soul. It’s a fantastic duet!

The lyrics are profound and from the heart. Michael Bublé, Chase McGill, Greg Wells, and Jann Arden wrote this expressive and relatable song. It’s a beautifully well-written tune about how it can be challenging the holiday season for many, especially those dealing with difficult days, such as the first Christmas without a significant other. Freestyle poetry in a piece like this is a suitable choice, giving the song a style that reminds me of a person’s most inner thoughts – a stream of consciousness.
