Single Saturdays: Brittany Kennell – All Hat

Canadian singer Brittany Kennell released a new single, All Hat. The song is about a woman who realizes the guy she is dating is not genuine and has no interest in commitment. Brittany Kennell is the songwriter for this piece.

The music is Country. It’s an incredible ballad with a remarkable composition. There’s a Shania Twain vibe. The musicians in this single, Ariel Posen (electric guitar, acoustic guitar) and Dimitri Lebel-Alexandre (pedal steel guitar), are incredible and create a dynamic sound. The song starts with a significant gradient rhythm and then goes to a bold, semi-fast beat to represent intense emotions of heartache and disappointment.

It ends with a smooth guitar fade-out. Brittany Kennell did an excellent job with the composition, creating the vibe of heartbreak and the courage to stand up for oneself.

Brittany Kennell’s voice is smooth and rhythmic. She sings with style, expressing her courage and confidence to confront someone not genuine in this relationship. Her vocal style is bold.

The lyrics are expressive. The woman realizes the man she’s dating is not interested in commitment, spotting a liar – just someone who’s “looking for a good time,” then “ghosts” her. In other words, it’s a facade -“you’re all hat and no cowboy” means all talk and no action. It’s a unique way to describe how a woman catches a guy on a lie. The simile of the river is a clever touch. The poetry throughout this tune is rich and profound.  The pain and heartbreak are relatable. It’s a well-written song with fantastic depth.

The single All Hat is available.
