Peter Xifaras’ Edgy Album Fusion

Peter Xifaras released an edgy album, Fusion. It’s a remarkable blend of musical styles. Peter Xifaras is the songwriter and arranger for each song.

The musicians on this record are incredible, creating different vibes based on the rhythm and beats.

The music is Fusion of many musical genres—the songs parallel music for movie scores. There’s an impressive and harmonious blend of musical styles. Peter Xifaras plays with an incredible group of musicians: Shunzo Ohno (trumpet), Xander Nichting (violin), Max Gerl (bass guitar), and Scott Jackson (drums) for six of the seven songs. One piece where it differs is the piece While My Guitar Weeps For Mehdi Rajabian, consisting of Peter Xifaras with The Czech National Symphony Orchestra (violin) with Max Gerl – (bass guitar) and Scott Jackson (drums).

The album has some incredible, fast-paced songs that create excitement and suspense. Chaos has a bold effect of intensity and suspense, similar to an action movie score, creating a sense of excitement, especially those from the ’60s and ’70s. The song has a gradient rhythm with impressive moments where it completely stops. Think Quick mixes Modern Jazz with 80s-style pop. Some parts parallel Kajagoogoo’s 1980s single Too Shy, creating nostalgia created by the trumpet (played by Shunzo Ohno). Other song components include music that reminds me of belly dancing, especially at the end. The tune Till We Meet Again is a fantastic blend of Jazz and Reggae. It starts with a sound paralleling U2’s single Elevation. It then transitions to a rhythm that reminds me of Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up” in terms of the beat.

There are also phenomenal semi-fast-paced tunes that are exciting and intriguing. Shunzo is a remarkable blend of musical styles, such as Jazz and Soul. It starts with Jazz and gradually changes into Soul. The song has a dynamic composition and great piano-style music. The intro of this track reminds me of the introduction to the movie Zorro (with Antonio Banderas as Zorro). It also parallels The Gorillaz’s single Clint Eastwood. The song Wild and Free mixes modern sounds with old-fashioned music, a score similar to that heard in Western movies. The music reflects the song’s title in its energetic, fast-paced rhythm. There are incredible transitions, giving this piece an intricate composition. The piece B Blues features a great blend of instruments. Some parts parallel the ’80s classic Tainted Love by Soft Cell. Other musical components remind me of when I used to play any Mario Bros video game when Mario confronts the villain. Shunzo Ohno’s trumpet solo is fantastic, smoothly blending with the other musicians’ instruments. The music in this piece is dynamic and intriguing.

The song, a fantastic ballad, While My Guitar Weeps For Mehdi Rajabian, has a dynamic Rock-style composition. In the beginning, it reminds me of Queen’s radio version of their 1984 hit I Want to Break Free, which then transitions to a rhythm similar to another hit, Who Wants to Live Forever, but with the violin. The beginning of this track also reminds me of NSync’s 2000 single Bye Bye Bye. It also parallels the score for a climactic scene in a movie, especially in old films. It starts slow, picks up the tempo, and slows down again. There’s a feeling of contemplation. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra plays the violin beautifully. Max Gerl’s bass guitar playing reminds me of Queen guitarist Brian May’s guitar solo. Scott Jackson plays the drums boldly. After the slow part, it transitions to a musical beat that parallels Janet Jackson’s 90s singles Together Again and I Get Lonely, with a slower tempo.

The musical mixes throughout the album are impressive. The compositions are rich in styles and rhythms and cover a range of emotions.
