Canadian and Quebecois group Rau_ze released a new album, Virer Nos Vies. The themes are love, life and heartbreak.
The music is Electronic. The songs are edgy, blending old-fashioned beats with contemporary sound. Félix Paul and Rose Perron did remarkable work composing these songs.
The record has impressive short musical pieces. Montréal Chill is a bold introduction to the album and sets the tone. Crémazie is an excellent musical number played about halfway through the album.
There are phenomenal ballads on this album. The song Sumerset has a wavy rhythm and immersive, calming music. Pas La Peine has great, mellow music and incredible piano playing. It also has an impressive wavy rhythm. Revenir has a smooth, relaxing rhythm. It represents a period of contemplation and achieving peace of mind.
The record also has semi-fast tracks that give it a unique edge. L’Habitude has a fun 70s vibe with contemporary sounds. The gradient composition is impressive. The song has dynamic musical styles and is a lovely blend of folk, R&B, and electro-pop. Cinq Minutes Pile has a fun 90s vibe with a dynamic beat. The violin is a beautiful classical touch. The intensity represents the heartache and anxiety following a breakup. The piece Virer Nos Vies has incredible contemporary beats with 80s-style sounds. It has a fantastic blend of Electronic/electro-pop and R&B. Crève has an intense beat representing suspense and worry. There’s an incredible saxophone playing in the background. Parle-moi Pas has a phenomenal sound that complements the song’s fantastic composition. There’s a fun Jazzy-style beat. Partie Déjà has a bold R&B vibe that reminds me of Destiny’s Child’s 2001 single Survivor but with a symphony-style beat. The composition is remarkable.
The music on this album is phenomenal.
Rose Pérron’s voice is heartfelt and soulful. She sings each song with great passion, and her edgy, dynamic vocal style allows her to perform according to the mood and vibe of each tune. Rose Pérron has a fresh style in her singing.
The lyrics are poetic with profound meaning. Félix Paul wrote the songs on this album with incredible storytelling.
Some songs are romantic and sweet. Sumerset is a song about a time of change and a metaphor for the mixed emotions accompanying it. L’Habitude (the habit) is a sweet love song about an adjustment period in a relationship and feeling mixed emotions. Virer nos vies (turning our lives around) is an impressive piece about making bold life changes. It’s filled with hope and confidence.
Other songs are sad and deal with challenging emotions. Cinq Minutes Pile (exactly 5 minutes) describes a time of heartbreak and the struggle to move on from the breakup. Pas La Peine is a sad piece about the most challenging time during a shift in mindset—when some may feel lost and confused during this transition period for peace of mind. Crève (dying) is a profound song about surviving a breakup and anxiety following that time. It’s a vulnerable tune full of raw emotions. Parle-moi Pas (don’t talk to me) is a courageous tune about standing up for oneself. Partie Déjà (already gone) is about a girl who feels fed up with her partner’s situation and bravely decides to end the relationship, telling the person to return home.
Revenir (coming back) is about contemplation and how everything happens for a reason, creating peace of mind.
The lyrics of each song have remarkable depth with genuinely raw emotions.
