Luke Carlos O’Reilly’s Jazz Album Leave The Gate Open

American singer Luke Carlos O’Reilly released a new album, Leave The Gate Open

The music is mainstream Jazz. The album has a fantastic mix of rhythmic styles, ranging from slow to party sounds. The songwriters did an excellent job of creating different vibes depending on the rhythm of each song. Throughout the record, the musicians did excellent work playing harmoniously.

When Darkness Takes Our Lives has a rhythm representing a time to reflect. It parallels Michael Bublé’s rendition of Kissing a Fool and a bit of George Michael’s original version but is less intense, with a more romantic vibe. Luke Carlos O’Reilly (piano), Vicente Archer (double bass), and Jerome Jennings (drums) capture the feeling of contemplation.

Some songs have a bold, semi-fast beat. Only Option has a fun musical structure. It reminds me of various dance numbers in classic Fred Astaire movies. There are remarkable tempo transitions from fast to slow and vice-versa. The song Little Man  has a style that parallels the Spider-Man theme song with a Jazzy twist (parallel). Luke Carlos O’Reilly (piano), Vicente Archer (double bass), and Jerome Jennings (drums) create a fun doo-wop vibe. Deshazor has impressive Old-fashioned Jazz sounds, similar to that of the 30s and 40s. A lovely romantic vibe feels passionate and expressive of solid love. The bass in this piece is incredible, crediting Matthew Parish, who plays the double bass. Also, Luke Carlos O’Reilly (piano) and Jerome Jennings (drums) did an excellent job.

The album also has upbeat melodies full of joy and positive vibes. The song Soul Dancing has lively music, reminding me of old-fashioned Jazz. It also parallels Queen’s single Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy. Joey DeFrancesco did an excellent job as the songwriter of this piece. Luke Carlos O’Reilly (piano), Vicente Archer (double bass), and John Roberts (drums) did great work creating that old-fashioned Jazz rhythm. The melody Keep on Keeping On has a cheerful beat that I imagine playing in the background as a movie scene, as someone is walking down the street. The music parallels George Michael’s 90s single Freedom 90 (in the beginning). Luke Carlos O’Reilly (piano), Vicente Archer (double bass), and John Roberts (drums) create a beautiful, happy ambiance. Mini Mama has a fun celebration/party vibe that parallels Pharell Williams’ single Happy, with a Jazz-style sound. There’s a joyful and dynamic beat that gives the impression that people are genuinely having fun. City Called Heaven has a romantic vibeThe song parallels Fever (Michael Bublé’s version). The mood is sentimental and heartfelt. Luke Carlos O’Reilly (piano), Matthew Parrish (double bass) and John Roberts (drums) create a harmonious vibe. It ends the album on a positive note.

The compositions are rich, with a harmonious blend of musical styles.
