Day 3:Christina Perri – Songs for Christmas

American artist Christina Perri released a new Christmas album entitled Songs For Christmas. There is one original song and 11 covers.

The music is Pop and Jazz. The piano and guitar give the album an intimate family vibe. The homage to the Christmas classics is soulful. The songs have a beautiful lullaby vibe.

The album has lovely ballads. Silent Night has stunning harp music and piano playing in the background. Christmas Waltz has beautiful music honouring Frank Sinatra’s original version with a touch of Pop and Classical music. The piece Wonderful Christmastime pays homage to the composition of the original version with a stunning ballad-style structure. The acoustic guitar adds an intimate vibe to the incredible song by the Beatles. The song White Christmas is remarkable. It follows the musical style of Bing Crosby’s classic version, smoothly blended with Jazz and Pop sounds. The album ends with a heartfelt rendition of The Christmas Song. The piano makes it warm and cozy. The ballads are calming and intimate.

The record also has remarkable songs with a semi-fast rhythm. The song Christmas Dream has a cheerful beat with Christmas Sleigh bells. The music of the original Christmas Dream parallels Stephen Sanchez’s single Until I Found You but with a festive twist. The piece A Marshmallow World has a nice blend of guitar and sleigh bells. Sleigh Ride has a fantastic combination of Classic Christmas music with contemporary Pop beats. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer starts with a cute introduction to smoothly transition to a faster tempo. It feels sweet and cozy. It ends with a festive fade-out. Mele Kalikimaka parallels the original version by Bing Crosby with a touch of Pop of Christina Perri’s musical style. Frosty The Snowman has a sweet, joyful rhythm that complements the song’s storytelling aspect. It ends on a nice guitar fade-out. The piece Let It Snow also has sleigh bells playing in the background, creating snowing effects.

The music throughout the album is an impressive blend of classical Christmas music with Pop, and sometimes Jazz-like sounds.

Christina Perri’s voice is soft and sweet. She sings from the heart each song, especially her original piece, Christmas Dream, which celebrates Christmas with family. Another example of singing from the heart is when Christina Perri performs the song Frosty the Snowman. She sounds sweet and friendly. She captures the holiday cheer in this Christmas album.

The album has one original piece entitled Christmas Dream. Christina Perri, Johnny Hanson, Whakaio Taahi, Jennifer Decilveo, and Emily Frost wrote the lovely lyrics. It’s a heartwarming song about a mother looking forward to Christmas celebrations with her children. The words are wonderfully well-written with a beautiful – full of heart and soul.
