It starts with lovely sleigh bells and then adds on with percussion and drum beats. Drop Top Sleigh Ride (with Tyga) has 80s-style Pop 80s-style Pop (i.e. Turn Back Time) combined with a 90s dance sound and a Rap sequence that reminds me of Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri. The piece I Like Christmas has a beat that parallels classic Christmas songs, such as Santa Baby and All I Want For Christmas Is You (not the Mariah Carey one but the ballad by Vince Vance & The Valiants).
Some of the covers have a nostalgic sound. The first example is What Christmas Means to Me (a duet with Stevie Wonder). It’s a lovely combination of Gospel and R&B. The harmonica adds a charm to the song. There’s an 80s-style vibe. Run Rudolph Run has an incredible Rock beat that reminds me of the Classic Rock from the 1950s, mixed in with some Elvis Presley-style sounds (like the beat in Hound Dog). Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) with Darlene Love has an old-school. Please Come Home for Christmas honours the original style with a contemporary beat. Christmas Ain’t Christmas Without You has verses that parallel Cher’s 90s hit Believe, and the chorus has a traditional style. Put a Little Holiday In Your Heart (with Cyndi Lauper) also has a fun 80s vibe similar to Cyndi Lauper’s True Colours and I Drove All Night. This Will Be Our Year has a sentimental feel to the music, ending the album on a heartfelt note.
Cher’s rendition of Santa Baby follows the traditional musical style of the Christmas classic but with some Pop-style sounds.
