Canadian singer Matt Forbes has released a rendition of a holiday classic; You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch.
The music is Holiday and Pop, with some Jazz. The band is fantastic (the list of members is below)- the musicians play harmoniously and capture the spooky vibe of the Grinch perfectly. The composition is impressively full of twists and turns that follow the Grinch storyline. The music of this rendition feels like a show at one of those club venues. The musical structure follows the original composition combined with Jazzy-style beats and some bold, intense moments that create an impressive effect. The song has a nostalgic feeling, yet hearing this version feels contemporary.
Matt Forbes’s voice is deep and bold. His vocal range is fantastic, with perfect rhythm and hitting the right notes to create the effect of fear from the Grinch. He sings with feeling and passion. He tells the Grinch story with great conviction. The mention of social distancing is a subtle reference to when people had to distance themselves during COVID.
The single You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch, is available.
