Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You -30th Anniversary

November 2, 2022, marks the 30th Anniversary of Whitney Houston’s version of  I Will Always Love You. It’s a remake of Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit of the same title. The song is a bittersweet love story in which both parties wish to make it last, but circumstances don’t allow it.

The music is R&B, Soul and Pop. The song is an incredible ballad-the piano adds to the beautiful and rhythmic music. In the beginning, it starts slow and sounds like Gospel music heard in Churches. It then gradually increases in tempo and transitions smoothly into a faster rhythm at the chorus. The change in tempo represents an adventure vibe of the bittersweet love story. The music during the verses is intermediate, which is a bold touch. The composition is beautiful and rich. It ends on a smooth fade-out. David Foster did an excellent job producing this version of I Will Always Love You, which complements Whitney Houston’s musical style.

Whitney Houston’s voice is strong and bold. She sings with great passion, expressing deep, long-lasting love. She sings each note with impressive precision. The R&B star knows how to follow the rhythm of the song perfectly. Whitney Houston pours her heart and soul into the lyrics. She performed this version of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You with her musical style and made it her own. Playing a role in the movie The Bodyguard feels personal, telling the story from the character’s perspective. It was impressive how Whitney Houston’s version of Dolly Parton made a significant impression as a remake, which is rare.

Happy 30th Anniversary to Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You!
