Flashback Fridays: One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga

November 28, 2021, there was a special on CBS called One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga. It was a one-hour program honouring the legendary artist Tony Bennett, celebrating his 95th birthday, taking place at the Radio City Hall.

It starts with Lady Gaga performing songs from the album Love for Sale that she collaborated with Tony Bennett. She told the story of how she met Tony Bennett, and it was touching and beautiful to hear. Lady Gaga sang classic hits: Luck Be A LadyLet’s Do It, and New York, New York. The last one she did was as a musical introduction to Tony Bennett.

Then in the second half of the special, Tony Bennett comes on stage, starting with the song Steppin’ Out with My Baby. After that, he sings Fly Me To The Moon, a classic hit by the late Frank Sinatra. Lady Gaga afterwards sang a touching performance of Happy Birthday to Tonny Bennett, which she performed with heart and soul. 

Then, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga performed three songs in a duet: Lady is a Tramp, Love for Sale, and Anything Goes.  Tony Bennett sang his famous hit I Left My Heart in San Francisco as a final touching performance. 

The special then ended with a lovely speech by Lady Gaga thanking Tony Bennett for his impact on the music industry and for being an inspiration.

The program was impressive and well-done. The musicians were incredible, and there was joy and celebration throughout the special.
