Editorial: The 54th CMA Awards

November 11, 2020, the 54th CMA Awards was hosted by Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker. They did an excellent job hosting this event. Their monologue was cute and funny, cheered us up when we needed it. They set the tone for an incredible evening of Country music and awards.

Highlights 

Performances

-The opening act of the 54th CMA Awards was a tribute to the late Charlie Daniels performed by Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, Ashley McBryde and Brothers Osborne. 

-Morgan Wallen gave a touching performance of his latest hit, More Than My Hometown.

-Gabby Barrett and Charlie Puth sang a lovely duet together of the song I Hope.

-Eric Church sang his incredible single Hell of a View with suave and style.

-Darius Rucker performed Beers & Sunshine with heart and soul the common subject of beer or drinking.

-Ashley McBryde sang her song One Night Standards with depth and raw emotions.

-Luke Combs performed his latest single, Cold As You, with a bold vocal style

Jon Pardi gave a touching tribute to the late Joe Diffie through an incredible performance

-Carly Pearce and Charles Kelley performed in a heartfelt duet of the song I Hope You’re Happy Now (the original duet is with Lee Brice)

Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker sang in a touching duet the song, In The Ghetto, a tribute to Mac Davis

-Miranda Lambert Settling Down

-Chris Stapleton & his wife performed the single Starting Over

-Ingrid Andress More Hearts Than Mine

-Reba McEntire, Thomas Rhett & Chris Tomlin Be A Light

-Tribute to Kenny Rogers by Little Big Town with a cover of Sweet Music Man

-Brothers Osborne Go All Night

-Old Dominion gave a musical tribute in honour of the 40th Anniversary of the movie Urban Cowboy, with the song Looking For Love.

-Maren Morris beautifully performed her single The Bones, from her album Girl.

Keith Urban sang God Whispered Your Name to honour the Frontline workers who work hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Awards

– Reba McEntire awarded The 1 millionth Crown Royal Purple Bag to the founder Kathleen Lewis with thank you notes inside it.

-Entertainer of the Year: Eric Church
