Robin Williams: 5th Anniversary of His Passing

August 11, 2019, marks the 5th Anniversary of Robin Williams’ passing. I remember when I heard the news on a Monday evening. I was shocked, like many of you were, I imagine. It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since Robin Williams passed away.

Robin Williams was primarily known for his stand-up comedy and acting. However, he also sang. I especially remember his voice from the 1992 cartoon movie Aladdin as The Genie. He sang the songs Prince Ali and Friend Like Me. He was dynamic in that role. It was a role tailor-made for Robin Williams, according to sources. It marked my childhood.

Another song that Robin Williams was known for performing was Blame Canada from South Park, blaming Canada for shooting Kenny. Not being a South Park fan myself, I had a hard time understanding the humour. This song became a pop culture moment to be remembered.

Robin Williams leaves behind an incredible legacy. He phenomenal works include Good Will Hunting, Aladdin, and more!

Rest in peace, Robin Williams.
