Dirty Dancing: 30th Anniversary

30 years ago today, the iconic movie Dirty Dancing came out in theatres. The movie stars the late Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.  Kenny Ortega was the choreographer for this film. Many of you many know as the choreographer for the High School Musical. This is an 80s classic that was the phenomenon of the time. The title was controversial for the time, but not to worry.

The story is simple, yet fascinating.  A young girl Baby, whose name is Frances (Jennifer Grey) grows up to be a woman. She falls in love with Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze).  Her father (Jerry Orbach) didn’t approve of their relationship at first, but warms up to Johnny eventually

The dancing in this movie was so fun to watch. The music is incredible in this movie. My favourite songs are The Time of my LifeShe’s Like the Wind. Patrick Swayze’s voice when he sang She’s Like the Wind was smooth and soulful. I saw this movie a while back, not too long after Patrick Swayze passed away. I really enjoyed it, even if some might say it’s “cheesy”.  I saw the movie again around the time of Valentine’s Day, and I enjoyed it.

Enjoy the film again, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the film.
