Soundtrack Saturdays: Song Sung Blue

The movie Song Sung Blue has been officially out in theatres in North America since Christmas Day.  I listened to the fantastic film soundtrack, hearing impressive covers of Neil Diamond songs. It is incredible, especially hearing Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson perform (together or separately).

Hugh Jackman’s voice is husky and dynamic. His vocal style parallels that of Neil Diamond; he honours him beautifully. I’ve heard Hugh Jackman sing in other musicals, and he continues to amaze me.

I look forward to watching the movie.  He did an incredible rendition of I’m a Believer along with Kate Hudson. He has an unforgettable voice that reminded me of his musical performances in the movie Les Misérables.

Kate Hudson‘s voice is bold yet smooth. She sings rhythmically with great passion. She can hit those high notes impressively. She also gave incredible renditions of Neil Diamond songs, including Walkin’ After Midnight and Sweet Dreams.

Although I haven’t seen the movie yet, hearing Hugh Jackman  & Kate Hudson perform together is fantastic in a couple of songs. Their voices complement each other, like their performance of I’m a Believer, as previously mentioned.

Michael Imperioli performed two songs on the soundtrack: Oh Boy and Everyday. He did an excellent job. His voice is rhythmic and edgy.

The Ton3s have a song Get On Up on the soundtrack that adds a lovely musical and nostalgic touch.  It’s a catchy tune.

Hearing the original pieces adds a lovely, nostalgic touch to the soundtrack, such as Forever in Blue Jeans and Sweet Caroline. It also honours Neil Diamond’s impressive musical career.  The soundtrack ends beautifully with the song Song Sung Blue, which is also the movie’s title.

The movie soundtrack is fantastic and well-thought-out, combining actors’ performances with the original songs. It was lovely listening to it.

The soundtrack for Song Sung Blue is available.
