British Boy band Blue released a new single, One Last Time. It’s a song about a person who wishes they could help someone, but is unable to do so.
The music is Pop. The song features an intense semi-fast beat to express heartbreak and grief over the loss of a loved one, as well as confusion. The composition is phenomenal. It starts with this fantastic fluctuating beat to express emotional intensity. Then it goes into a very fast-paced tempo, also representing emotional intensity and grief, as well as confusion/denial about the loss of a loved one. Duncan James and Paul Viser did a remarkable job composing One Last Time. The music has a powerful impact and perfectly describes the emotions one feels during a difficult time.
All four members of Blue sing the song with heart and soul. Duncan James sings the first verse and Lee Ryan the second with great feeling.
Antony Costa does a remarkable job performing the pre-chorus (twice) before the chorus, sung by Simon Webbe, whose performance is incredible. Lee Ryan boldly hits the high notes towards the end of the song. Each member expressed their emotions with deep feeling. Their voices complement each other nicely, as always.
The lyrics are profound, with great use of simplicity to express grief, sadness and heartbreak. The ‘little goes a long way’ approach was well thought out. The verses express confusion and wish more could have been done. The pre-chorus profoundly expresses the heartbreak of feeling of not being able to help someone we care about. It also describes the regret that we feel when we wish we had told them certain things before the person passes away. It’s a familiar sentiment that many of us think. The words are well-written, in which the lyrics feature genuine, raw emotions with great depth.
The single One Last Time is available.
My condolences to Duncan, Lee, Simon & Antony for the passing of their friend Terry.
