Kurdish singer Derya has released a new single Cry Like the Sea. The song is about soul-searching and grounding oneself.  Derya and Colin Martin are the songwriters of this heartwarming piece.

The music is Singer/songwriter. It’s a relaxing song favourable for meditation. The ukulele, played by Selzca, in the background, is a sweet touch. It’s lovely to hear, and it complements Derya’s voice. It’s the kind of music I imagine hearing while sunbathing at a beach somewhere. It’s peaceful. Derya and Colin Martin did a fantastic job composing this soothing song. The rhythm is consistent, complementing the relaxing vibe this song beautifully conveys. It’s also wavy, representing the smooth ocean waves, a perfect choice for this kind of tune. It feels warm and cosy.

Derya’s voice is soft and flowy. One can hear the calm in her voice when she sings this lovely song. She sings soulfully and with beautiful grace. Colin Martin and Alexa Lux are fantastic with the background vocals.

The lyrics are poetic and deeply insightful. It’s a soulful metaphor to be one with nature, in this case, with water. It starts with a man speaking Kurdish. I admit I don’t know what he’s saying. However, based on his tone, it sounds sweet and heartfelt. The tune also features a lovely spiritual element that adds a nice depth. It conveys the beautiful message that it’s okay to cry without judgement. It also feels like a sign of hope and comfort, along with many beautiful details in this piece: healing and the faith that everything will be okay. The oceans are a perfect example of the reset feeling some of us need from time to time, as well as the importance of unconditional love.

The single Cry of the Seas is available.
