American boy band Backstreet Boys released a new album, A Very Backstreet Christmas. It has ten covers and three original pieces. There are two bonus tracks for those with the Target* version: It’s Christmas Time Again (another original) and Feliz Navidad.
The music is Holiday and Pop. The album has a contemporary Pop sound to Christmas Classics. The first example is White Christmas, which has an upbeat yet relaxing tempo. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas has a lovely mix of classic and modern beats. It has a 90s vibe parallels the Backstreets Boys’ earlier singles, such as Quit Playing Games with My Heart and I’ll Never Break Your Heart. Their rendition of Wham’s 80s hit Last Christmas is the most impressive piece with a catchy techno beat.
The music of their original hits is fantastic. Christmas In New York is a beautiful ballad. In the end, a little part pays homage to Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York. The tune Together has a nice wavy rhythm in a go-with-the-flow style, giving it a festive feel. Happy Days has an incredible dance vibe in a 70s style, parallel to Earth, Wind, & Fire and Bee Gees. The producers, including Gary Baker and Morgan Taylor Reid, did fantastic work. The music is impressive. The compositions are rich and diverse, harmoniously blending Classical Christmas music with contemporary musical styles.
The voice of each Backstreet Boys member is incredible. They sing in perfect harmony and separately. Their vocal styles have evolved magnificently, with a phenomenal vocal range. The Backstreet Boys have a pearl of musical wisdom, especially in performing this lovely Christmas album.
The lyrics of the four original pieces are romantic, heartwarming and sweet, with a personal touch.
The song Christmas In New York is a beautiful piece about spending the holiday season in NYC. It feels intimate and soulful. Gary Baker, Greg Barnhill and Walt Aldridge wrote these lovely, comforting words with beautiful poetry.
Together is a touching song about reuniting and spending the holidays with a significant other. It’s relatable, missing those we love during this time of year. The credit for the exceptional writing of this piece goes to A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Darius Coleman, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Tommy Parker, Travis Sayles and TBHits.
Happy Days is an upbeat and fun song full of hope. It’s a perfect song to represent happier times, especially after challenging times like the pandemic. A.J.
