Soundtrack Saturdays: Wicked for Good

November 21, 2025, the movie Wicked for Good is officially out in theatres. The soundtrack also came out the same day as the film’s release.

The cast is once again phenomenal in performing the well-known songs from the musical Wicked, along with two original pieces: No Place Like Home (Cynthia Erivo) and The Girl in the Bubble (Ariane Grande). It’s an impressive soundtrack.

Every Day More Wicked starts the soundtrack, representing where the musical left off. It was a bold move to split the piece Thank Goodness into two separate songs. It makes it even easier to follow the story.

Another bold choice is to slightly alter the piece’s performance: Wonderful, which was just the Wizard and Elphaba, now includes Glinda.

Many of the songs feature phenomenal performances by the cast, with incredible solo parts from the leading actors/actresses.

My favourite part of the soundtrack is the two new original songs No Place Like Home (Cynthia Erivo) and The Girl in the Bubble (Ariane Grande). Both pieces express mixed emotions of hope and uncertainty.

No Place Like Home is a heartfelt song about Elphaba trying to call Oz home despite its people rejecting her. It’s vulnerable and profound.

The Girl in the Bubble is a profound ballad. Ariana Grande sings this piece with depth. It’s a song about growth and realising what’s important in life.

The duet of Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey, performing the song As Long as You’re Mine is heartfelt. They did an incredible job singing this piece with deep feeling.

Cynthia Erivo’s solo performances are fantastic. She sang each tune with great passion. Her voice is strong and impactful. In this soundtrack, she adds another layer of boldness in her singing. When performing No Place Like Home, one can feel those mixed emotions, as previously mentioned. Cynthia Erivo honours Elphaba’s growth as a character and her multifaceted nature.

Ariana Grande’s solo performances are also impressive. She captures Glinda’s essence and her growth as a person. Her voice is soft and sweet, expressing Glinda’s innocence. She performs each song with heart and soul. When she sings “I’m Not That Girl” (Reprise), it represents one of the saddest moments in the story, and she performs it with genuine vulnerability. She did a remarkable job singing this heartbreaking piece.

The soundtrack ends with a profound song, For Good, performed by the main stars, Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande. They sang the tune with a beautiful finesse. It expresses what friendship is about and demonstrates that the most unlikely friendship can happen, embracing differences with love.

The music is fantastic, and it brought back memories of seeing the musical in New York in 2019.

I look forward to watching the sequel and epic final of Wicked.
