Halfway Through Summer 2024

We are halfway through the Summer Season. What an exciting Summer it has been. But first, I want to talk about the Olympics, especially Celine Dion’s phenomenal performance of Édith Piaf’s Hymne à l’amour. What an impressive rendition of a French classic. I wish all the athletes good luck at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Enjoy the Olympics, everyone!

The music I have discovered is phenomenal. There are also quite a few milestones in the music scene, both joyous and bittersweet. The joyous ones are the musical anniversaries of 80s hits, such as Richard Marx’s Right Here Waiting (35th anniversary) on June 29, Queen’s It’s a Hard Life (40th anniversary), and on August 1, Stevie Wonder’s single I Just Called to Say I Love You turns 40. July 22 marked the 20th anniversary of French artist Sacha Distel’s passing. I discovered fantastic music from the late crooner. That includes a French version of Stevie Wonder’s I Just Called to Say I Love You. I learned that Sacha Distel’s single La Belle Vie was remade by Tony Bennett with his single The Good Life.

I continue to do my weekly blog reviews of an album or EP and then a single on Saturdays for my Single Saturdays articles. The music I have been listening to is fantastic. It’s a joy to discover what I like to call hidden gems. I’m excited to review more incredible music.

My favourite part of this summer season was attending a music event on my recent cruise vacation at the beginning of June. I saw Italian musician and singer Arthur Picari. He was incredible. I look forward to hearing more of his music. I recently followed him on social media.

Then, I will take some time off during the week of Labour Day (a North American holiday). Thank you for following my blog and my social media.

Have a lovely rest of the Summer!
