Today marks the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing. It’s hard to believe that it has been 20 years.
I admit that I don’t remember much of the news because I was a kid. I do remember one thing though: a display of large portraits of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed at a Hemley’s, a British Boutique where I saw flowers and plushes people left behind. It was during my trip to London, in April 1998. I didn’t realize until now, the scale of this tragedy. I also remember Elton John’s song Candle in the Wind.
Elton John’s Candle in the Wind describes how many of us felt the days following her passing. Princess Diana leaves behind an incredible legacy. She was a devoted humanitarian to important causes such as a cure for HIV/AIDS. She was also the “People’s Princess”.
